Here in the United States we get a taste of different foods from fruits and veggies from different countries to being able to go out and get meals from different cultures such as Mexican, Asian, American, Italian and much more. Most of this is because we have so much diversity in America. Is there any diversity where you live and do you ever get to try foods not grown in Africa or from a different culture?

Hello Gordon Parks!
Hey, St Paul students. Here we are in St Al's computer lab. Actually this is only about half of the blog crew; a lot of the girls were playing in a volleyball match when we met yesterday afternoon.
My colleague Bill and I were working with the students on how to create new posts. I'm new to this too so it's a learning opportunity for all of us here in Nairobi.
Next time we're going to borrow a camera and try to upload some student portraits so you can see who you're dealing with over here.

Heileen and Cully
Some of you at St. Aloysius may recognize Cully in this picture. This was taken last April (2012) here at Gordon Parks High School. He was helping students make a video about land the school is trying to acquire so that it can be converted into outdoor classroom and agricultural use. The other person in the picture is Heileen. You have seen posts from her on the blog.
typical kenyan school day
in most kenyan schools lessons start at eight in the morning and end at five thirty in the evening.with breaks in between(lunch break and breakfast ).We also have a maximum of 10 lessons
in a day.How is your school schedule?
We are so eager to know.

In St.Aloysius we do some community service after our life in school.We do this to show our gratitude to the community for giving us a second chance to pursue our dreams,some of the services we perform include working in homes,providing teaching services in kindergatens and elementry schools.my questions is;
Do you do some community service after you finish high school?David Ouma and Frank Nyamweya

UNIVERSITY ENTRIES
In Kenya we learn for four years in high school and then do a national exam called Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. This exam lasts for 1month.We wait for results for roughly 3months after which the grades determine who is to go to university and the courses they have to study and who is not.Does the same apply in your country? What dertemines college admission and courses to study?
We would love to know how it works there!

WORK AND SCHOOL:
hi once again!from the previous blogs,we have learnt quite much from you and many thanks.however,we are kind of upset with the relation between work and school for you guys.here in kenya,a student is entitled to total committment to school work which is contrary to what we got from you guys about work.our question is,how do you manage your studies and do work at the same time?is it not challenging? lets hear from you!!!

System of Education
In kenya we have the 8-4-4 education system.firstly, before starting the system, one has to attend kindergaten which takes a period of three years. One then proceedes to primary school where we spend eight years from class 1-class8. We then do a national exam at the end of the eigth year in primary.we then proceed to secondary school for a period of 4 years, from form1-form4.At the end of the 4th year we have a national exam which determines whether you will proceed to the tertiary level(university or college) to persue your career.
How is the education system there?
